The Cat, The Professor and the Poison

Book Cover

Synopsis:

Between her kitty quilt-making business and her three beloved cats, Jill has her hands full. That doesn’t stop her from wanting to solve the mystery of the milk cow that’s gone missing from her friend’s farm. But imagine her surprise when a stolen cow leads to the discovery of fifty stray cats and one dead body—a victim of cold-blooded murder…

Well the book finally arrived and I have to say I did enjoy it. I was a little bit disappointed with the ending, I keep saying it but the detective – no matter how amateur – should work everything out and Jill was no where near solving it. It’s a shame because she is a very likable character. Leann Sweeney is good at what she does and her prose flows nicely. That said, I do prefer a cheerful cosy and there is something very melancholy about this book. I don’t know if it is intentional. All in all it wasn’t as much fun as the yellow rose series but only because of personal taste. I will give the next book in the series a go and see if the melancholy was a one off and hopefully Jill will be able to work out the mystery.
